Heart of Devon

We are trying in vain to make our modern house get a bit of feeling, we have tried this wallpaper and i have to say it is very good likness to brick !!. Let me know what you think !!!

We recently took mother in law to a lovely lavender farm near to us in Hartland, it was a lovely day but windy, we had coconut and lavender cake in the tearooms and they bought us a David Austin rose for the garden in a glorious yellow, and it seems to be doing well in the garden. Now that Becky is back home we have taken to going for walks around the Village in the evening (better than sitting on the sofa) and I have been trying out the new camera. We are currently redoing the bathroom, I have chosen another eye catching paper for one wall, more on the soon. our lovely church hartland lavender centre

Wallpaper madness !! We have been wallpapering like mad trying to get some feeling into our brand new house.

Haven't blogged for a long time, we have been very busy, but thought i would add a few new pics, the main one at the top of the page is of us all in front of our lovely church, some sadness this week as my 16 year old son finishes school and heads off to college in September, my baby no more !!. My daughter Rebecca is coming home for 6 months, after renting on her own, and not being home since she was 17, its going to be interesting !!, she wants to travel, so good old parents said 'come home and save your pennies' (secretly looking forward to female company in the house). We had a gorgeous week in Corfu in may at this hotel http://grand-mediterraneo.com/eng/corfu-hotel.htm , it was lovely and relaxing and no children allowed !!. We are off to the Canary Islands in Septemeber cant wait, the benefits of downsizing and buying a new house with no DIY (am getting bored though !). Havent found the time to blog for ages, family life and work seem to get in the way !! We decided to go for a walk around our Village this afternoon, I have taken a few pics but the day was very grey, I think it will be interesting to see what the same shots look like as the seasons change. We have been lucky in North Devon, not had hardly any snow, but will be pleased to see spring, wont be long now and we are off to Corfu in may so really looking forward to that !!. This is a new area made by our church with mazzard trees and benches with a little stream, it will be lovely in the spring ! this is 'Honeysuckle Cottage' near our church, lovely, on my wish list !

Still trying to decide what xmas tree to get, there are some very realistic artificial ones these days, but if i dont choose soon we wont get one in time for xmas !! I am very lucky to have a fabulous hubby, we went to Exeter xmas shopping and this is what we bought !! Well we havent picked him up yet, thats this weekend but ive already bought car mats and I can feel alsorts of new purchases coming on, he feels like part of the family already, he,he !! Also more news, I have joined the WI !! I am enjoying it very much and all the ladies of all ages are lovely, our xmas party is next week !!.
